Finding Peace after Grief: The Red Quarters

Updated: Dec 31, 2024

I'd like to tell you about a loyal and loving person. The type of person you could always rely on for support, encouragement, and without a doubt, help with whatever you needed. A person who, not only, would do absolutely anything for his wife, daughters, and dear friends, but a coworker, client, or a complete stranger, as well.

He was a bit of a prankster, but all in good fun. He'd often give you 'the look' when he disapproved and wanted to be mad at you, but couldn't.

His laughter resonated from two rooms away, and his smile instantly lifted spirits.

Many people had the pleasure of knowing, loving, and being loved by this man.

I had the distinct honor of calling him Daddy.

In writing about my father, not only was it extremely difficult, and heart-wrenching to relive the memories of his suffering, and ultimately, how he lost his battle with cancer. But the wonderful memories of his love and laughter were both joyful and cathartic.

I believe our loved ones who have passed on are still with us. In times of worry and trepidation, and also during times of great joy and celebration. They are right there by our side when we want them and miss them the most.

You might see a red cardinal, a hummingbird, or their name on an unexpected sign. You might hear their favorite song just as they crossed your mind.

Your message will come in whatever form is special and meaningful to the two of you.

As for me, my family, and his dear friends... when we missed him the most, when we wish he was by our side for a special occasion, I believe Daddy sent us gifts from heaven- proof that his love transcends time and space.

So, my friends, I give to you... The Red Quarters.
